When I first obtained my CSCS in August 2015, just months after completing my Bachelor of Arts in Sport, Health, and Physical Education (shout out to my PHED fam!), it was the first time in my academic or professional life that I felt I had actually EARNED something. Quite suddenly, I felt I had gathered the knowledge and applied skills to help others. However, along with that came the desire to acquire MORE. Little did I know, this was only the beginning...
Today, I actively study the ever-growing fields of strength & conditioning, exercise physiology, and exercise prescription at the University of Victoria (yes, in Victoria, BC - that's "British Columbia". Its beautiful and great and you should probably just move here).
Academia isn't the do-all, end-all of success, but it certainly put me on the right track
By April 2017, I will have obtained my Master of Science in Kinesiology degree. My thesis research involves establishing and validating a fitness testing protocol for karate athletes, which has already been adopted by Karate Canada as the standardized test for all karate athletes across the country. But more on that later.
My goal is to help people, and especially athletes become the best versions of themselves
Using an evidence-based approach, I ensure that I use recent knowledge from scientific literature to inform my practice of strength & conditioning coaching. For clients that work with me, this means that you get the most up-to-date practices in the fitness world that have been PROVEN to work. Furthermore, I am always searching for more knowledge and adapting my training practices.
If you'd like to train with me, or get any knowledge or information on topics such as fitness, exercise physiology, nutrition, strength & conditioning, training for sport performance or exercise prescription - I'm an open book. I believe that knowledge is only worth the amount that it is shared, and I enjoy helping others learn while they enhance their fitness and sport-specific skills. I am confident I can help YOU any way that you wish. If you're not ready yet, that's fine. You'll know where to find me...
