Kalan Anglos, Msc., cscs
My name is Kalan Anglos and I am an Human Performance Expert & PhD Student in kinesiology. I help train and educate individuals on the science behind optimizing performance, and living a healthier lifestyle.
I want to help YOU become the best version of yourself
For the past 7 years, I have dedicated my life to learning exactly HOW the body works when it exercises, and how it can be optimized in training. This has included 4 years at the Vancouver Island University where I studied Sport, Health, and Physical Education, which culminated in obtaining my Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certificate from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. I then furthered my studies at the University of Victoria (UVic) where I pursued and obtained my Master of Science in Kinesiology degree. After completing that in April 2017, I became a Ph.D. candidate in the same field - where I now continue to conduct new research on sport performance and fitness testing of combat sport athletes. I am also currently a physiology lab instructor at UVic.
My current scientific research includes validating the modified 300-metre shuttle run test, which is one of the fitness tests that is included in the KFit Test Battery for Combat Sport Athletes - now recognized by Karate Canada as their standardized fitness test on athletes across the country. In September 2017, I presented my research at the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology 2017 conference in Manitoba, Canada. Look for my research to published soon in the Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research.
My goal is to train, educate, and inspire
One of the main reasons I have dedicated my life to learning about how the human body performs, is because it still baffles me how many myths and misinformation is out there. Furthermore, I feel that it is not well understood HOW exercise physiology can benefit your performance in sport or life. I believe the main reason for training incorrectly or not at all is because many people just don't realize how it can actually help their performance or condition. That's where I come in.
I want to learn everything there is to know about how exercise affects the body, and how it can benefit YOU. That's why I have gone down this path of academic achievements, and practical application in an attempt to fully understand everything myself. Then, I want to SHARE this information - imagine that? I want to help you not only train correctly, but understand what is going on in your body at a physiological level - and HOW it affects your training and performance. That is why I have started down this journey, and KFit Conditioning is my platform to do so.
What is KFit Conditioning?
KFit Conditioning is me. It is what I do, what I know, and what I think YOU should know (or do). Every day, I train individuals one-on-one who are looking to increase their sport performance, or improve their health and lifestyle through an evidence-based approach to fitness training. Furthermore, I work every day to enhance my understanding of the physiological processes of exercise and how it affects training and performance.
If you'd like to train with me, or get any knowledge or information on topics such as fitness, exercise physiology, nutrition, strength & conditioning, training for sport performance or exercise prescription - I'm an open book. I believe that knowledge is only worth the amount that it is shared, and I enjoy helping others learn while they enhance their fitness and sport-specific skills. I am confident I can help YOU any way that you wish. So keep tuning in (to The Kfit Show podcast!), keep reading, and most importantly - keep learning and keep growing. I'll do my best to help.
Yours in health,
